| Name: | Lorelei Quirol |
|---|
Lorelei was born to a writer and a pianist/amateur artist on the island of Fotei. They were both teachers of their respective arts, and they were very happy to have finally had a baby after wanting one for twenty years.
Her childhood was rather carefree. Her main concerns were learning to play the piano, listening to her mother play piano, and reading her father's collection of books. She learned other things of course, but none of them mattered more to her than music and writing. She was a very fast learner as far as her music was concerned, and her mother had high hopes for her.
She went to school, of course, and her marks were not esepcially exceptional except in the areas that she had already been focusing her efforts into. As she went through school, she could only dream of becoming like her mother and going even further. She wanted to play in an orchestra and to be known throughout the world as a great and talented pianist.
She proceeded through school and even went to a conservatory to study her art further. It only took her three years before she grew restless and had a want to fulfil her dream. She left the conservatory without having technically graduated and went back to her parents to discuss her options on what she wanted to do with her life. Her father became quite maddened at her for having not finished her education, but her mother, though miffed for the same reason as her husband, was amused by Lorelei's want to get away and follow her dream.
It took some convincing on her mother's part, but finally, her father gave in, and Lorelei told them of her plans to move to Zontanos to join an orchestra and become famous. Again, her father was a bit stubborn, telling her that she was doing a lot of wishful thinking, but her mother said that she approved. This left her father on his own, and finally, he caved and allowed her to go.
Lorelei was absolutely elated to finally be able to go and acheive her aspiration, but there were, of course, several hitches in her plans. The first was that when she first arrived in the city, she was hard-pressed to even find an apartment to rent. Finally, she did, but it was rather dumpy, and she didn't care much for it, but it was a place to live. Second was that no matter how well she played or how much she hoped, she could never quite seem to get into an orchestra. They always told her that she needed to be more experienced in other instruments of the percussion family. She was starting to think that her dream was just that: a dream. However, her unfortunate circumstances got even worse.
When her father finally got into contact with her, he told her that her mother had fallen quite ill, and that she should return home as soon as possible. Of course, Lorelei got on a plane as soon as she could, but even that was too late. When she finally got back home, her father had to inform her that her mother had died shortly before Lorelei had arrived. This news stunned her, and she had no idea what to do. Before he did anything else, her father told her that her mother had said that Lorelei should follow her dream no matter what and that she should also inherit her mother's piano.
She stayed for the funeral and the burial, and during this time, she rethought through her situation. She decided to pay the rent on the initial month of her apartment, and she would find a different one when she returned to the city. She only stayed a week with her father before she finally returned back to the city. It was hard leaving him and her mother's memory, but she knew she had to, and she had a feeling for some reason that things were going to look up.
She was right. When she got back to the city, she found a new apartment without much hastle. It was rather expensive, but it was comfortable. She also somehow was contacted by a bar for a job as a piano player. It wasn't the orchestra, but it was a job, and she really could use one at that time. Also, only a few days after she had told her father about her arrangements, he ordered for her mother's piano to be shipped to the city and moved into her apartment.
Things were looking up. That is until her father became sick. It wasn't anything serious, he assured her, but that didn't stop her from worrying. Even if it wasn't going to kill him, it still made her realize that he could lose her father just as easily as she lost her mother.
However, her father is still alive and has since recovered. Lorelei is happy with her situation even if she hasn't been able to acheive her dream. She has hope that it will eventually come true.
Lorelei is an optimistic person most of the time. She tends to have a really buoyant attitude toward life. She's been through some rough times before, but she knows that eventually things will work out. She has a tendency to be reserved, though she will come out and talk on occasion...especially after a little alcohol. She tends to be a little eccentric, and her sense of humor can be pretty all-encompassing, but she only cares for the occasional dirty joke. Anything beyond that, and her mood turns sour. She's trustworthy and loyal to those who she calls friends.
With dirty blonde hair and brown eyes, Lorelei stands at about five feet three inches and has a moderate build: not too thin and not too fat. She rarely wears makeup and tends to dress on the conservative side.
